Preserve Grounds
|
| Firesteel Creek Hunting Lodge is expanding business to accommodate a waiting list. In order to do this some additional ground has been purchased for the sole purpose of having preserve ground and thus expanding the hunting season from September 1 to March 31st. Those of you who currently have a weekend during the regular season from October 20th through December 15th will only benefit from this if you choose. The released pheasants are flown into habitat that also sustains a population of wild birds. When managed properly and not over hunted it provides a mixed bag limit of wild & released birds. Those of you who are unfamiliar with preserve ground, this is ground where birds have to be released based on how many birds a group wants to shoot in a given day. Preserve ground does not have a three bird limit like hunting wild birds during the regular season. The option for the groups who hunt wild birds is that if you finish your wild bird hunt early you can opt to shoot more birds on the preserve ground. The other option I am working on is to warm up on released birds on a designated course called a European Hunt or Continental Hunt before going out to hunt wild birds. There will be an added cost of thirty dollars per bird. |
| The other safety net this provides is being able to hunt when the wild bird population hits a down year. Please remember this is an option for you to choose you do not have to hunt on the preserve ground. If you are interested in any of these options for the up-coming year for your group please call me or e-mail because I will need to order birds by the end of April. If you decide on this option during your weekend of hunting I might not be able to provide the birds that late. |

Todd Worrell
|
| Most know Todd Worrell as a Major League Baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers. His accolades extend beyond just baseball - an avid hunter and shooter with a deep dedication to family and charities he has devoted much of his life to the support of some great organizations such as the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and Prohunt Charities - not to mention the Firesteel Creek Hunting Lodge which in Todd's words is "not just a hunting lodge, it is a chance to get together with some great people, relax and enjoy the fellowship of fellow hunters, leaving the majority of the hustle behind for a couple of days and participate in a superb hunt." |
| Just a little information on the organizations and career of Todd Worrell: |
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): Todd has been a board member of this wonderful organization for over 14 years. He has also served 3 years as president of the board. The FCA focuses on junior high and high school aged youths that are athletically involved by providing opportunities for students to meet and discuss various issues in their lives, utilizing the bible as a guide to make good decisions and apply proper values. More can be learned at the FCA web site. |
ProHunt Charities: Todd was co-founder of this impacting organization in 1993. Originally put together to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® it has also benefited such groups as the National Children's Cancer Society, Camp Rainbow and Kids with Cancer. |

Mission
|
| Welcome to Firesteel Creek Hunting Lodge. As owner and operator, I believe developing relationships is the single most impacting quality and life changing experience one can benefit from. Reflect for a moment on the path your life has traveled, and the investments of other peoples' lives in yours will highlight that path to where you find yourself today. |
| The advancements of technology have allowed our world to grow and improve at an unbelievable rate. E-mail, voice mail, faxes, computers and cell phones have all contributed to this phenomenal growth. Unfortunately, these same conveniences have replaced and redefined the value of relationships. |
| Here at Firesteel Creek Hunting Lodge is the opportunity to refocus on the true value and purpose of relationships through working together in the field for a successful hunt, fellowship, fun, food, conversation and relaxation. We all need to slow down and experience God's creation and realize what we are missing is each other. |

The Legend of Firesteel Creek - Written by Doug Abts
|
In the cornfields of South Dakota, on the banks of Firesteel Creek, There's a lodge that's become a legend, for an experience that's truly unique.
It's the vision of the famous fastballer - pitcher Todd Worrell, And you'll have to go there to believe the story I'm about to tell...
Breakfast is served at seven, and the food is delicious and hot. It's your fuel for the morning hunt, so you load up on all they've got.
With your guns it's out to the skeet range, to break some birds of clay. After a game of "Annie Oakley", you're ready to take on the day.
Then the roar of the mighty War Wagon beckons you all inside, Where Todd breaks out his whiteboard, with a plan to conquer and divide.
You'll have pushers, wou'll have blockers, you'll have wingman two-by-two. Your group will be in a formation, no pheasant could ever break through.
As you march straight through the switchgrass, the birds rise again and again. You can feel your heart in your throat, as you shout out "Rooster" or "Hen!"
And then in a blaze orange circle, as you have all the pheasants surrounded, The sky grows black with feathers, as each rooster is flushed and pounded.
The dogs work back and forth, as they retrieve every colorful bird; And as always, you're at your limit, each shooter has dropped his third.
Finally, back home in the mudroom, all the hunters have tall tales to tell, Claiming that with every single shot they took, at least one pheasant fell.
Of course Todd, the Daves and young Andy, smile as they hear these words; But they wish the hunters didn't waste all those shells, missing so many birds.
So, if you doubt a place like this exists, or think what I've said is untrue, Then head on out to Mitchell and see how life can be better for you!
